- This event IS rain out insured. Details of rain insurance are outlined below.
How does Rain Out Insurance work? Here's the deal… Infineon Raceway offers rain out insurance for an incremental fee. When we agree to pay this fee, we have the option to call off the event if we expect rain. The decision to cancel the event is ours if we choose to do so, not the tracks. However, rain must be eminent to do so.
How much of my Registration will I get back if we cancel due to rain? If we cancel due to rain, then the track keeps 25% of the Track Rental Fee and returns the balance if there are no other expenses they have incurred to support our event. This is why its critical to have a GO or NO GO decision about 48 hours before the event. If we do call the event off, then the cost of the rain insurance + any other expenses would be the only financial liability for the group. We split this by the number of registered participants and return the balance to you. In this case, if we cancel early enough to not incur any expenses other than the 25% mentioned above, then you will get all of your registration fee back minus about $35.
How do we decide if we run the event or use the Rain Insurance? 3 or 4 days prior to the event, TMR will review the forecasts for the region and make a recommendation. That recommendation will go out to all registered participants, who will then have an opportunity to respond with their opinions/preferences. TMR will then make the final call. If rain is certain, we will may call the event off after considering member feedback. If it looks like it may rain the day before, but not the day of the event, we will run. Light drizzle or a small chance of a shower or two may not cause us to cancel the event. All factors will be considered, and common sense will be used when making the final decision. Because Sears Point/Infineon has a new surface, traction is VERY GOOD when the surface is wet. Street tires, R-Compounds with full tread, and new shaved R-Compounds will work well if the surface is slightly wet. (Kuhmos, Toyos, etc)
Refunds TrackMasters Racing will not refund registration fees unless we have members on the wait list to take your place. Exceptions to this policy are possible if the cancellation notification is 2 or more weeks prior to the event date. Weather related cancellation and any resulting refunds are controlled by Rain Out Insurance description above, and the track management.
